Oxford, Mississippi

Your child is far from home.

Your attorneys aren’t.

Little & Holland, PLLC crest

Concierge legal counsel for Ole Miss students and their families. One number to call — answered by the attorney you already know.

Concierge Law

A lawyer who answers the phone — not a firm that cashes a check.

A concierge lawyer means individual, dedicated representation instead of a high-volume, one-size-fits-all practice. As a multi-lawyer firm in the heart of Oxford, we take the time to understand each family’s circumstances and stay with them through every step.

Whether you have a case and need us right now or you just want to get to know us before your need arises, you're welcome to come by our office on the Oxford Square anytime for a free initial consultation.

The Student's Lawyer

Campus conduct, citations, arrests — representation built around a student’s record and their future.

DUI / DWI

License suspension, fines, and a record that follows a student. Immediate guidance, strong defense.

Underage Drinking & Alcohol Charges

We evaluate the circumstances of the charge and work toward the outcome that protects academic standing.

Possession of Controlled Substances

Criminal penalties, financial aid, university discipline — we handle the case and its consequences.

Fake ID / False Identification

A criminal matter in Mississippi, not a formality. The sooner we’re called, the better the resolution.

General Life Counsel

Landlord-tenant disputes, employment issues, health care, harassment, online issues, and all the other things that life throws at a young person.

Who We Are

Meet us before you need us.

Membership begins with a private Family Welcome Meeting in our historic Oxford office — Mississippi’s oldest law office, circa 1893.

We get to know your family. More importantly, your student gets to know us. We talk about life at Ole Miss, the situations students actually face, what to do when something goes wrong, and how we can help.

Before you leave, your student has our personal contact information.

You send them to Ole Miss. We’re here when they need us.

Stan Little seated at his desk

Stan Little, Partner

While running two law firms in Mississippi over the past quarter century, Stan Little has settled thousands of cases, tried hundreds more, and taken dozens to trial-by-jury. His clients return to his firms time and again, and he is proud to have served multiple generations of Mississippians. Stan has built relationships across the state and prides himself on still being able to pick up the phone to get things done the old fashioned way. An early advertisement for his first firm simply stated “Stan Little Gets Things Done in the Delta,” and he has made “getting things done” his mantra ever since.

Little has appeared in Municipal, Justice, Youth, Circuit, and Chancery courts from North Mississippi to the Gulf Coast and from the Delta to the Piney Woods. He’s argued cases before the Mississippi Supreme Court and Mississippi Court of Appeals, and he has served as both Prosecutor and Defense Counsel.

In addition to serving as Senior Partner at Little & Holland in Oxford and Little & Davis in Hernando, Stan Little is an American business leader and serial entrepreneur. His most notable start-up, Southern Airways, grew to become the largest commuter airline in the United States, which Little took public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2023. He has served on boards of both public and private companies and has been appointed to governmental advisory committees at both the federal and state level.

Little has been a practicing attorney since 2002, admitted to both the Mississippi and Hawaii Bar Associations. He received his juris doctor degree from the University of Mississippi, where he was an Eastland Scholar, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Tennessee, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. By 2015, his airline served the hometowns of both his alma maters.

Stan has also been a restaurateur, cotton merchant, author, broadcaster, columnist, and magazine publisher, having started his first business at age 17. He was the youngest member of the Memphis Cotton Exchange and the youngest-ever radio station owner at CBS.

Since leaving Southern Airways, Little has been active in projects in the hospitality industry and remains keenly focused on next-generation electric flying boats in the luxury space. He presently serves as Senior Partner or Chairman of five companies, including The Twenty Five Club in Connecticut, but most enjoys serving his clients from his office on the Oxford Square.

Jim Holland seated at his desk

Jim Holland, Partner

Jim Holland’s 39 years of legal experience in Mississippi is both broad and deep. After graduating from the Ole Miss Law School, he started his career clerking for the 11th District Circuit Court in the Delta. Jim soon transitioned to private practice, representing individuals in criminal defense matters, companies in various litigation matters, and those who were injured by the negligence of others.

Holland moved to Horn Lake, Mississippi in 1993 to accept the position to City Attorney. During the next 24 years, he would serve as City Prosecutor and then Municipal Court Judge, handling virtually every criminal matter that came through the city. In 2017, he became the Chief Prosecutor for the third-largest county in Mississippi (Desoto) and was re-elected twice without opposition.

After nearly a decade in that position, Jim retired from elected office in 2026 and returned to Oxford with his wife, a sixth-generation resident of Lafayette County. Now a founding partner of Little & Holland, Jim currently represents clients in criminal matters, personal injury, estate planning, and corporate matters. He’s admitted to practice in all the courts of the State of Mississippi and is active in numerous civic, legal, and professional associations.

Jim believes that building a better community is just as important as building a better law practice, and he strives to accomplish both. He ensures that our firm offers caring, experienced, and fiscally-responsible representation and strives to always exceed our clients’ expectations.

Quentin Whitwell

Quentin Whitwell, Of Counsel

Quentin Whitwell is a seventh-generation Mississippian and an Oxford lawyer with nearly three decades of experience in advising clients in complex legal matters, corporate & governmental affairs, and business strategy. He is also an entrepreneur with experience in starting and growing new businesses, navigating regulatory environments, improving operations and efficiencies, and negotiating mergers and acquisitions.

Whitwell founded a governmental relations firm advising clients across Mississippi, and he has focused heavily on rural health care. His companies have owned and operated rural hospitals across the South, and as Founding Partner of Portico Strategies, he continues to assist rural healthcare facilities in navigating and flourishing in the current political and regulatory environment in that industry.

Quentin served two terms as a city councilman in Jackson, Mississippi as well as student body president at Ole Miss. He’s in the Ole Miss Hall of Fame and continues to volunteer his time to civic and religious organizations in Oxford and Lafayette County.

Quentin and his wife Ginger have two grown children and their own businesses on the Oxford Square.

Even the best kids can make a life-changing mistake-- and it's usually at night or on the weekend when there's no one readily available to help. Underage drinking, fake IDs, possession of controlled substances, and DUI can all result not only in a trip to jail but also in a criminal record that will follow a student for many years.
